Brits turn to annual travel insurance

Almost three quarters of holidaymakers are planning to buy annual travel insurance within the next year, new research has stated.

The research found that 69 per cent of travelers will take out annual travel insurance over the next 12 months, while 85 per cent of holidaymakers are planning to take out some kind of travel insurance.

American Express Insurance Services has encouraged more Brits to consider taking out an annual travel insurance policy as it provides lower costs for those going away more than once a year.

Even those who only plan to take one holiday a year may find themselves taking the odd weekend break, trips where travel insurance is also an advisable purchase.

Chris Rolland, head of American Express Insurance Services, said: "With so many cheap flights and last minute holiday deals available to Britons, taking a mini-break is all the more appealing.

"If people are planning to go away more than once this year, it is far more cost effective to buy an annual insurance policy than numerous single trip products, giving them peace of mind all year round."
